The new testament in context: sources and documents

This new book is a revision and a restructuring of Origins of Christianity: Sources and Documents, and includes additional material from Jewish and Roman sources contemporary with the writing of the New Testament. Howard Clark Kee points out that authors of the New Testament operated within the social and political structures that prevailed at the time; they addressed the religious needs and aspirations of that age; used the literary conventions of the period; and adapted philosophical ideas of the times to their special purpose.
