Ogletree here sketches out the systematic components of Chris tian ethics, relating them to symbolic ethics - the mediation of Christian traditions of moral understanding and practical ethics - the critical appropriation of scientific studies of factors controlling human action. The informing metaphor of this work, hospitality to the stranger, suggests the central dynamic in moral experience: "to be moral is to be hospitable to the stranger."
