A walk in hell: the other side of war

In his book, A Walk in Hell: The other side of war, Helle lays bare the truth about post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), something he’s battled since returning home in 1970. “The fighting in Vietnam stopped years go,” says Helle, “but for most of us who were there, the war never ends. On good days and with the best counseling and medications, we succeed only in keeping it at bay.”
A Walk In Hell is not a “war story” but one about the mental bombs that can detonate years, even decades, after the sounds of the last battlefield explosions have been silenced. PTSD can also be caused by natural disasters, terrorist attacks, rape, automobile accidents, and many more events in many lives. Survivors of such events and those who love them will find understanding in this book.
