Recent developments in the biological sciences pose challenging questions to the church's theology and, especially, to the church's understanding of what it means to be human, that is, made in the image of God.

Can Christians affirm both their own faith and the new genetics? Which of these scientific find-ings give Christians reason to rethink traditional church teachings? Where does the Christian tradi-tion contain insights that might help Christians-and society at large-to assess the potential good, as well as evil, of new developments in genetic research?
