Webber's analysis of the history of Christian worship is very well done and I would expect that his writing here would be an eye-opener to many pastors and congregational leaders.... I found this to be a helpful and sympathetic treatment leading the reader to do something about what is being read. Webber is full of practical proposals for the improving of church worship..

If you don't own a book on worship. Webber's book would be a good purchase. You won't agree with all he says, but he affords a fine overview of worship in the Bible, the history of worship, and principles and practices of worship today... He provides something better: a careful look at the tradition of worship and the right kinds of questions about the ways in which we worship.
