Stewart A. Newman

The condensation of a lifetime of teaching and of study, Dr. Newman's book analyzes the nature and polity of the church from the perspective of the Baptist heritage in the Free Church tradition. This is a scholarly work but one which can serve the needs of the student, pastor and serious layperson as well as the theologian.

Dr. Stewart A. Newman was born on a Texas farm. He received degrees from Hardin-Simmons University and South-western Baptist Theological Seminary. He has pastored in Texas and taught at South-western and Southeastern Seminaries and at Campbell University. He recently retired as professor of philosophy from Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina.
