What do church members expect of their pastors?
5000 members of three large Lutheran church bodies completed a survey, "What Contributes to, What Detracts from Effective Christian Ministries."
Highest importance was placed on a pastor having a firm personal faith and living it in visible ways.
Care and concern for people ranked second.
Critical awareness of Lutheran heritage and doctrine
ranked third.
Ten "faces" in all are discussed.
TEN FACES OF MINISTRY not only reports and reflects on the survey results but offers practical suggestions, guidelines, and checklists to help congregations, seminaries, and pastors determine priorities and develop a more effective gospel ministry.
"A marvelous discussion tool for congregations, Bible classes, church councils."
