She flies beyond: Memories and hopes of women in the ecumenical movement

They read the Bible through their own eyes. They exchanged their reminiscences and dreams, their expectations of the Ecumenical Decade of the Chur-ches in Solidarity with Women and their personal experiences of the eucharist and baptism. Through all these emerged a vision of the ecumenical movement and of the World Council of Churches that is marked by inclusiveness, acceptance and togetherness.

She Flies Beyond is the story of a meeting of women, and made up of the stories of women. But the vision it unfolds takes us beyond "women's issues" to the affirmation and the community of all people.

Dr Pauline Webb is a regular broadcaster in the religious programmes of the British Broadcasting Corporation, and a lay preacher in the British Meth-odist Church. A former vice-moderator of the WCC's central committee, she now chairs the WCC advisory committee on communication.
