Through the eyes of love

I have just finished walking thoughtfully through the Gospel of John via Lee Whiston's Through the Eyes of Love. I found my faith quickening as I saw again the Jesus of the first century merging with the Christ of my own experience. Lee, like the author of John, deals with those signs and experiences of the disciples which were written so that the readers "may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in his name" (John 20:31).

I needed to take a fresh look at the Fourth Gospel at this time in my life and am grateful to be able to do it with Lee's Through the Eyes of Love.

Keith Miller

"The Gospel of John is not so much the story of what Jesus did," says Lee Whiston, "as the sensing of the mystical presence of the risen and eternal Christ, who by our faith lives in our lives so that what he was in Galilee and Judea is reenacted and lived out in us in the contemporary situation." Taking the Gospel of John in episodes, Lee comments on each passage to help you see the Gospel's intent and message. Then he directs your reflection on the episode with questions about how the truths of Scripture apply to your life.

As you walk through the pages of John's Gospel with Lee Whiston, you will see Jesus stand out as the new wine, the new birth, the new life. A fresh, provocative look at the Fourth Gospel, Through the Eyes of Love is suitable for devotional or group study.
