This book explores the function and significance of Son of Man within the Fourth Gospel as a contribution to Johannine Christology as well as a dialectic for the Syn-optic contours of the discussion. Part One presents a lim-ited historical survey of some aspects of Synoptic and Johannine studies. Part Two is an analysis of the Fourth Gospel according to the story genre. Part Three examines the relationship of the analysis of the Fourth Gospel to New Testament Christologies.

Mary Margaret Pazdan, O.P., is associate professor of bib-lical studies, Aquinas Institute of Theology, St. Louis, Mis-souri, and author of Joel, Obadiah, Haggai, Zechariah and Malachi (Collegeville Bible Commentary, Old Testament Series #17). She has been engaged for over twenty years in adult education, conference and retreat work for parishes, university faculty and students, religious life formation groups as well as Jewish-Christian dialogue partners.
