Developed over a period of 30 years during which noted mis-siologist Lesslie Newbigin was asked to lead Bible studies, mostly in the context of the Church of South India, this commentary on the Gospel of John is unique given the author's long involvement with Hindu culture. Here Newbigin is mainly concerned to make clear to modern Western culture "the word which is spoken in the Gospel in such a way that it may be heard in the language of the culture with all its power to question that culture.
