Book's Detail
John's story of Jesus

In this companion volume to Mark's Story of Jesus and Luke's Story of Jesus, Robert Kysar aims to tell us what John had to say about Jesus. Kysar sketches the plot line of the Gospel of John, points out the relationships between sections, and stresses the unity of the story. He divides the gospel into two main parts, "Jesus Reveals Glory" and "Jesus Receives Glory" and emphasizes the theological significance of the narrative. Kysar also poses the question, what is it about John's style that makes his story so effective? He highlights the evangelist's subtle ways of communicating with his readers. The simple but lively style of his approach allows John's story to "tell itself" with its own force and significance.

Robert Kysar is Lecturer in New Testament at Lutheran Theological Seminary, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. He is known for his work on the Gospel of John in The Fourth Evangelist and His Gospel and in John, The Maverick Gospel.
