John and His Witness is a study of the characters who ap-pear in the first chapter of the Fourth Gospel. It begins with John, the witness par excellence, and continues on to those who are brought to Jesus because of his preach-ing: the anonymous disciple, Andrew, Peter, Philip, and Nathanael. Each has a role to play in the Fourth Gospel and the formation of the community of the beloved disciple.
