In this exposition of the Book of Revelation, George Fo Ladd treats the Apocalypse as a true prophecy, one that flects the situation of the church at the time the book wa written, and that reflects as well the situation the church will face at the time of the consummation of God's redemptive plan.

Beginning with a brief introduction, Ladd discusses the sub-ject of authorship; the date and historical setting of Reveia-tion; and the various methods of interpretation (Preterist, His-torical, Idealist, and Futurist) that have been applied to the book throughout history. The introduction is followed by an analytical outline of the Book of Revelation; the commentary itself proceeds verse by verse.

Although Ladd's commentary uses the language of the layman (very little Greek has been included, and all the foreign language material has been transliterated to accommodate the layman), it is scholarly, comprehensive and competent. Its readability and its concern for proclaiming the message of Revelation for our time enhance the usefulness of this com-mentary as a working tool for clergy, Sunday School teachers, and the man in the pew.
