THE BOOK OF ACTS

The Book of Acts is a straight-forward, comprehensive study and commentary on the fifth book of the New Testa-ment, The Acts of the Apostles. Although not a verse-by-verse commentary, The Book of Acts is comprehensive in scope as an overview of the beginnings of the Christian church. William R. Cannon provides the reader with insight into the text of Acts through background information on history, biography, geography, and theology.

Following the order set down by Luke the Physician, Cannon moves successively through the scripture. The read-er begins with the ascension of Christ to the heavens, observes the apostles at Pentecost, oversees the organization of the church in Jerusalem, witnesses the dramatic conver-sion of Saul, and travels with the newly named Paul on his missionary journeys for the fledgling church. Along the way, the author stops for explanation, inspiration, and commentary.

This study has a style accessible to lay readers and content to please ministers and Bible teachers
