Story-Shaped Christology proposes that inquiries into the identity of Jesus Christ can fruitfully employ different kinds of narrative within their larger systematic endeavor. Draw- ing on the work of Walter Kaspar, Edward Schilebeeckx, Franz Josef van Beeck, and others, Robert Krieg shows how the use of narratives can contribute to the christological task of iden- tifying Jesus today. To this end he uses the three categories of narrative: the historical narrative, the biblical story, and biography. The author demonstrates the value of narrative in christology, as well as in preaching and teaching.

Robert A. Krieg, CSC is associate professor of Theology and director of the Master of Divinity program at the University of Notre Dame. He received his B.A. from Stonehill College in Massachusetts and his Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame. His articles have appeared in numerous journals and he is currently working on a book on Karl Adam and the rise of the Third Reich.
