<note>In this companion volume to the author's Higher Criticism of the Pentateuch, He demonstrates that the Book of Genesis is not a compilation from different documents but the continuous work of a single writer. The Unity of the Book of Genesis, along with The Higher Criticism of the Pentateuch, continues to be a classic refutation of the higher critical views of scholars such as K.H. Graf and Julius Wellhausen and their disciples. Many conservative scholars feel that Green's arguments have never been answered.

In the preface Ronald Youngblood, professor of Old Testament at the Wheaton College Graduate School, calls this volume on Genesis a "remarkable achievement indeed." He finds it to be "useful as an introduction and a commentary while at the same time fulfilling the goal set forth in its title: a defense of the unity of Genesis."</note>
