<note>DR. CHARLES PELLEGRINO has been known to work simultane-ously in archaeology, anthro-pology, preliminary design of advanced rocket systems, and dinosaur DNA (his research served as the scientific basis of Jurassic Park). He has been described by Stephen Jay Gould as a space scientist who occasion-ally looks down and by Arthur C. Clarke as "a polymathic astro-paleontologist-nuclear physicist." He is the author of eight books, including Unearthing Atlantis, in which he and a team of archaeolo-gists discovered the lost city; and Her Name, Titanic, in which he and Dr. Robert Ballard, working with a deep-sea robot, traced the Titanic debris field backward in time to reconstruct the liner's last three minutes. He and physicist Dr. James Powell coordinate brain-storming sessions on the next sev-enty years; projects currently under design range from a global system of high-speed Maglev trains to interstellar flight and raising a four-hundred-year-old galleon from the bottom of the Atlantic.</note>
