The intent of this study is to describe the central church tradition regarding the authority and interpretation of the Bible, especially as it has influenced the Reformed tradition of theology.... The authors are convinced that the central church tradition carried on in Reformation theology has a contribution to make to contemporary church life. Every age must do its own theology in relationship to the particular problems facing it. But we can be oriented and informed by the rich heritage left to us by Origen and Chrysostom, Augustine and Anselm, Calvin and the Westminster Divines, as well as their more recent critics and interpreters." |
