<note>All the Trades and Occupations of the Bible is a fascinating study of ancient arts and crafts The book is an enlightening, informative alphabetical listing of the various arts and crafts trades and occupations mentioned in the Bible Dr Lockyer emphasizes the human interest inherent in each of-these occupations while providing an almost encyclopedic fund of valuable facts about each of these occupations

It shows how daily labor rose in dignity from little more than serldom to a respected industry of arts and crafts, and it also traces the connection between various occupations and how they complement each other

Dr. Herbert Lockyer was born in Londen in 1886 and held pastorates in Scotland and England for 25 years, before coming to the United States in 1935

In 1937 he received the honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from Northwestern Evangelical Seminary

In 1955 he returned to England where he lived for many years He then returned to the United States where he continued to devote time to the writing ministry until his death in November of 1984</note>
