By wide agreement, Karl Barth is a major voice in 20th century theology, and perhaps the most profound interpreter of the Bible in the recent Protestant tradition. Jesus and Judas is an origi- nal attempt to describe and analyze Barth's exegetical practice in the Church Dogmatics. Unlike the many published works that cover Barth's hermeneutical theory, the author iden- tifies and describes the principles and proce- dures informing Barth's practice of Biblical in- terpretation. At each major stage in his presen- tation, McGlasson supports his account by ex- amining in detail Barth's exegesis of a specific text. Of interest to students of biblical interpre- tation, Barth, and biblical theology alike, this provocative study brings to light a corpus of theological work that has been largely unexamined heretofore. |
