Author Carl A. Volz is professor of church K at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. He received h S. T. M. in chur history from Concordia Senr and his M. A. in ancient history from Washington University, St. Louis. He studied under Dr. Jeremiah F. O'Sullivan at Fordham University, New York City, where he received his Ph. D. in medieval history. Dr. Volz is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and a frequent contributor to scholarly journals.
