<note>"The great Christian words which speak of salvation and Christian living were not the products of a secular environment," says Nigel Turner. And if we want to understand them today, we must understand their distinctively Christian meanings.

What makes a word Christian?

Christian Words is a dictionary of more than 450 New Testament Greek words that goes beyond the scope of other New Testament dictionaries, which usually only reflect the Koine Greek meaning of words-the meanings of the words as used in common speech. Rather, Christian Words shows how the early Christians gave new meanings to many words, such as double-minded, evangelist, bypocrite. and peace. Not only does Christian Words show what the early Christians meant when they wrote and spoke, it also shows what they did not mean.

Christian Words analyzes the similarities and differences of Jewish, secular, and Christian writings of the Hellenistic and Roman periods. It reflects the most current developments in the understanding of New Testament Greek, and yet its warm and personal style will make it helpful for all Bible readers and students.</note>
