In this book Paul Levy explains how Moore, a modest academic philosopher, came to have as wide an influence as he did on English intellectual life, and especially on Bloomsbury. As part of his account he has written the history to 1914 of the Cambridge Apostles, the semi-secret society whose members have ranged from Tennyson to Anthony Blunt, and in which Moore played a crucial part.
