<note>Alastar V. Campbell
In That Case provides a practical and lively introduction to the ethics of professional health care. Written by a general prac- titioner and a moral philosopher, the book focusses on day-to- day moral choices, rather than on the more unusual and dramatic Issues featured in the media. It urges people to avoid simple 'blanket' solutions, and to take time out from their routine in order to reflect on the morality of their actions. Interwoven with the theoretical discussion is the story of 'Angie', a young woman whose troubled life illustrates the realities of everyday ethics. Additional case material, exercises at the end of each chapter and suggestions for further study enable the reader to apply the ideas in the book to many different moral problems in health care.

This book is essential reading for doctors, nurses, community and social workers, health visitors and church workers. It will be of great interest to anyone who has been, or may be, a patient, or is involved in caring for patients. It may be used as a text book for courses concerned with medical ethics in practice.

Alastair V. Campbell, author of Moral Dilemmas in Medicine (Churchill Livingstone) and of Rediscovering Pastoral Care (Darton Longman and Todd), is a senior lecturer in Christian Ethics at Edinburgh University, and was editor of the Journal of Medical Ethics. Roger Higgs is a general practitioner in South London, and is Director of the Department of General Practice Studies at King's College Hospital Medical School. He has edited the 'Case Conference' series in the Journal of Medical Ethics. Both authors have taught extensively on interprofess- ional courses in ethics.</note>
