This book deals with the simple premise that people with problems need help. The urgent pace of societal development of the past two decades has brought about the spatial relocation of vast numbers of people to unfamiliar urban surroundings, with unfamiliar people. The loss of fami- liarity and the disruption of old patterns of life bring about a sense of insecurity, loneliness and rootlessness. In the face of continually growing demands, many people suffer from stress which may lead to depression and suicide. The rising in- cidence of marital discord and drug addic- tion in any society are also indicators of growing urban stress.
