Substance abuse, whether alcohol or another chemical exacts a terrible toll on all those within its scope. Employers, family, friends, and the user are all victimized in concentric circles of direct and indirect abuse. Yet despite the staggering cost in both human and finacial terms the drug epidemic has created, resources for intervention are dwindling. STEPCARE has been created in response to this growing problem. Its philosophy is to provide a systematic, affordable, comprehensive alternative to traditional treatment programs. STEPCARE addresses the core psychological components underlying addiction-low self-esteem, impaired interpersonal relationships, poor life coping skills, and life stresses. Teaching effective skills for living, STEPCARE targets these areas in people with addiction problems. STEPCARE is an effective and powerful adjunct to other treatment programs or can be used as the core for any recovery program.
