The God of the Bible has a consuming passion for justice. The gospel preached by the Son of God is good news to the poor. This is the biblical testimony. This, however, is not what we have traditionally understood of God and the gospel. The word of God is the Sword of the Spirit; the authentic voice of the Bible is a voice of dissent which exposes and challenges the inherent injustice embedded in much of contemporary culture, religion and socio- economic structures.
