A young mother has cancer; an elderly man fights depression; racism is institu- tionalized; the impulse toward war persists. The mainstream church is learning to respond to such brokenness by reclaiming the healing ministry of Jesus. Through healing prayer, Christians are deepening their experience of God, are being healed in body, mind, and spirit, are being used as channels of the healing of others, and are being nourished in their ministries of peace and justice. Stretch Out Your Hand is an opportunity to ask the hard questions and to explore the reality of God's healing love. It invites participants to dig deeply into their own experiences, receive prayers, pray for others, and claim the resources of faith for encountering social evil.
