<note>Locked into an indifferent universe, without God and with no hope of survival beyond life's final tragedy, death-that is man's predicament. The Christian message of resurrection and eternal life through Jesus Christ stands as a beacon of hope. But is that hope real or merely illusory?

On the basis of ten lines of historical evidence, Dr. Craig argues that it is probable that Jesus' tomb was found empty on the first day of the week after His crucifixion. From four elaborate lines of historical evidence, he contends that it is probable that Jesus after His death did appear physically and bodily alive to various individuals and groups. And, after a care- ful examination of the origin of the Christian move- ment, he concludes that only Jesus' resurrection can plausibly account for Christianity's coming into exis- tence.</note>
