<note>The world convocation on Justice, Peace and the Integrity of Creation, scheduled to meet in Seoul, Republic of Korea, in March 1990, will mark "an important stage on the road towards common and binding pronouncements and ac- tions on the urgent questions of the survival of humankind". The process of study, dialogue and action will not end with the convocation, but will receive new impetus and gather greater momentum from it.

This book is meant as a contribution to that ongoing process. It is designed to serve three aims, to enable Christian churches and congre- gations to see, to judge and to act: (1) to learn to see the causes and mechanisms of the destruc- tion of justice, peace, and creation, and the alternatives; (2) to learn to judge in the light of the Bible what God says and does in and to our situation and in what work God invites us to share, so that in arguments about the God of the Bible we can be sure in spirit; (3) to learn to act through the gift of church renewal.</note>
