Parousia

Sproul, R.C.
WHEN WHEN WILL CHRIST RETURN? THIS QUESTION WAS asked by Christ's disciples before his crucifixion, and it is still asked today. Jesus answered his disciples: "Some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom" (MATT. 16:28).

This important but neglected nineteenth-century classic establishes Christ's parousia (second coming) as "the nucleus and center of a cluster of great events," including the close of the Jewish economy, the judgment of Israel, the destruction of Jerusalem, and the resurrection of the dead. J. Stuart Russell concludes that the parousia, "with its connected and concomitant events," took place, as Christ predicted, later in the first century when Jerusalem was destroyed.

"One of the most important treatments of biblical eschatology available today. The issues raised in The Parousia are vitally important not only for eschatology, but also for the debate over the credibility of sacred Scripture."
