<note>The evangelical world is embroiled in another theological controversy - one which centers on the very nature of saving faith and the gospel itself. Through the publication of several books on the subject, the controversy has now erupted threatening the evangelical unity. Yet part of the problem is to understand what the two sides of the controversy are saying.

Dr. Belcher in this work aids the layman in coming to an understanding of the controversy and its issues. In two early chapters he summarizes Lordship salvation and nonlordship salvation. Then he compares the two positions in the areas of theology and their handling of Scripture texts. Finally he critiques the nonlordship position in its theological straw men, its theological weaknesses, and its exegetical inaccuracies. Whether one agrees or disagrees with the author's conclusions, here is a book which will give the reader a clear understanding of the two sides of the controversy and its issues. Dr. Richard P. Belcher is on the faculty of Columbia Bible College, Columbia, SC, where he teachers Bible, theology, Greek, and preaching. He is the author of numerous books in the fields of Bible study, the Greek language, history, and theology, as well as two biographies of great Christians</note>
