Book's Detail
Jesus Christ at Encounter of World Religions

This is a book with a two-pronged purpose. In it Jacques Dupuis both artic- ulates Christian conviction about Jesus as the Christ in relation to the reality of other religious traditions and, equally importantly, searches out the wisdom these traditions bring to Christianity.

Although learned and careful in his scholarship, Dupuis writes in a way that makes this book accessible to non-specialists. He utterly transcends narrow, sterile dogmatism, while finding in the christology of the first Ecumenical Coun cils fresh resources and questions for both Christians and members of other religious faiths.

Dupuis covers the basics of Christian and other religious traditions and t crossroad to which dialogue has brought the world's great religious farmiles Not content to repeat the "verities" of Christian scriptures and dogmas finds in the innermost dynamics of Christianity the grounds for a dialogue w others. For Dupuis, religious conviction is not a hindrance to dialogue, but stimulus to probe the foundations of faith ever more deeply because willingness to accept, without precondition, the "otherness of the other."
