<note>When the Holiness Movement began teaching the baptism of the Holy Spirit as a second blessing they departed from historic Methodism and opened the door to Pentecostalism. This book is a call back to the ethical holiness of early Methodism.

The author is an ordained minister and has pas-tored since 1977. He has served congregations in Kan-sas and California. Currently he pastors Wesleyan Chapel in Beckley, WV. He is married and has three daughters. He received the Bachelor of Theology degree from Kansas City College and Bible School. He received his Master of Divinity degree from Tal-bot School of Theology at Biola University. This book is a revision and expansion of his master's thesis entitled: The Spirit and Sanctification: The Chang-ing Emphasis within American Wesleyanism.</note>
