<note>In this book we are not attempting to look deeply or thoroughly particular doctrines. Rather, we are attempting to set a ramework for doing theology and suggesting ways to develop this heology.

-Thomas A. Langford

Dr. Langford deals with the meaning of God from our Wesleyan/United Methodist heritage. He relies upon the Foundational documents of our Church to lay the groundwork for our belief in God. Then he proceeds to demonstrate how God is revealed through the lives of every person-those who do theology as they live out a life of faith and commitment to God and the Christian community.

To be a theologian means to be part of a Christian community. To make God known to others is to begin to be active in one's faith. Any person of faith can become a theologian by simply teaching a Sunday school class, visiting and talking with a sick friend, or singing a song. In a basic sense, everyone who worships God is a theologian. Thus we should accept the responsibility for careful, devoted, thought and speech, as God is made known through us.</note>
