<note>There is no doubt that church faith and church practice, over time, have accumu- lated layers of complexity and sloganeering that bewitch and confuse and alienate would-be believers. In this book, Alice Bellis cuts through much of the unhelpful obfuscation to the clarity, simplicity, and innocence of gospel truth. Readers per- plexed by much of the church may find here a credible access to faith."

"DOING THE TWIST TO AMAZING GRACE looks at the tough questions-the ones that have been percolating in many people's minds, or, alternatively, that they have been afraid even to hear voiced. She does more than voice them. She picks them up and examines them through the lenses of her diverse personal and pastoral expe- rience. When the questions threaten to slip away with the easy words of pat answers, she pulls them back and challenges the easy words themselves. Her book incites dialogue, both within the reader and between readers who find themselves at different places in their own journey of heart and mind. This book would be an excellent way to focus discussion in a study group or adult Sunday class."
