<note>Christians firmly believe that Christ is the only way, the truth, and the life. Holding to such an exclusive belief, how can Christians relate to the other two-thirds of the world's population who espouse other beliefs? What is Christ's re- lationship to men and women who profess gods of other names? These are some of the hard questions with which Dr. Heim grapples in his provocative study.

This is not a treatise on other faiths or on the relationships between Christianity and any specific religion or ideology. The primary focus is on how those who believe in the ex- clusivity of the Christian faith should deal with the facts of pluralism in our modern world and how they can be open to meaningful dialogue with those of other fafths. The under-- lying question posed by Heim is not whether Christians should preach Christ but whether people ought to believe that Christ is the only way, the abundant life. He takes a very positive stance concerning the need for Christians to understand fully their faith in relation to the multitude of names that swirl about them. The in-depth exploration into the scriptural basis of Christian claims about Jesus Christ will clarify and strengthen your faith.

Of particular assistance for developing dialogue with other faiths is a discussion of the presuppositions that often stand In the way of considering Jesus Christ as universal Savior, the arguments used to divert focus from the truth of claims about Christ, the reasons why people are reluctant to con- sider Christ's claims, and what men and women in this pluralistic world want to know about Christ's significance for them.</note>
