<note>The product of six years of intensive work with students in the classroom at the undergraduate level, this book brings together under a single cover representative samplings of the major Christological statements in the New Testament, the writings of the Fathers of the Church and the deliberations of the various Church Councils. At the same time it provides an interpretation of the development of the Church's doctrine in a manner that is at once comprehensive and clear.

"I am particularly impressed by the manner in which the author explains the developments in Christology in relation to church community needs in each age and context.... It promises to be a vital addition to the literature, and will certainly become a mainstay of college theology courses." David M. Bossman, O.F.M., Dean, St. Bonaventure University Graduate School
