Pilgrims prayer book

"Prayer opens the heart to God, and it is the means by which the soul, though empty, is filled by God."

John Bunyan on prayer

John Bunyan, the humble preacher of Bedford, England, gave the world the spiritual classic The Pilgrim's Progress. Generations of Christians have profited from reading Bunyan's insights into living a holy life. Bunyan also penned the discourse "On Praying in the Spirit," a con- saderation of the place of prayer in the Christian life. Re- grettably, the discourse on prayer has been largely for- gotten.

Bunyan's insights into sincere, heartfelt prayer in the Spirit are now within reach of contemporary Christians. Louis Gafford Parkhurst, Jr., has abridged Bunyan's thoughts on prayer. The archaic language has been mod- ernized and the work has been divided into thirty-one daily meditations, a month of devothn Bunyan, a master of devotional writing. Reade fit from this updated edition of a long piece.
