"The Passionate God is a great work that proceeds from profound spiritual experience and seeks concrete and effective communication. It sets forth the ongoing exchanges in living and loving that constitute the vitality, the development, and ultimately the self-effacing heroism of members of the Body of Christ."
Bernard Lonergan, S.J.
"The Passionate God is wisdom literature, the genre in which Rosemary Haughton excels. She writes here about human experiences of 'breakthrough' and 'exchange of life' and about those intense moments Christians call the Incarnation, Resurrection, the Church, the Eucharist...... Her presentation of familiar and unfamiliar stories opens them up, makes room for the new readers, and invites reader recogni- tion of the passionate God in odd places. She creates again that curious excitement-'breakthrough Haughton readers have come to expect. Mary Collins, O.S.B.
