What if the major message we're supposed to "get" out of Scripture is not so much the story of God but the story of God's relationship to humanity, and how that affects our relationships with each other. From this premise, Brakeman uses the Jewish interpretive storytelling known as midrash to trace the healing patterns found in biblical relationships through cycles of intimacy, separation, and reunion.
