Christian Uncertainties

Christian Uncertainties is a collection of short articles on issues about which many Christians are simply uncertain. Monica Furlong writes on the meaning of prayer, death, love, sin, the Church, and a variety of difficult topics from homosexuality to abortion. Furlong addresses traditional Christian concepts such as heaven, hell, sacraments, and the seven deadly sins, and helps us to think about them in contemporary, realistic terms. These pieces speak engagingly and provocatively about some aspects of Christianity which we may "know" but not in any real way understand.

"The fascination of Christianity is not what I know but what I don't know, like the figure that the sculptor perceives in the uncarved block. Christianity appears to me as a religion of few certainties.... I do not see Christian allegiance as a matter of adopting simple answers."
