Presents the following lectures from the 1984 Paine Lectures in Religion at the University of Missouri-Columbia: "Psychological Dimensions in the Art of Eastern Christendom" by Thomas F. Mathews, Professor of Fine Arts, New York University; "Picturing Theology: Martin Luther and Lucas Cranach" by John W. Cook, Professor of Religion and Arts, Yale University; and "El Greco: Between the Renaissance and the Counter Reformation" by Jonathan Brown, Carroll and Milton Petrie Professor of Fine Arts, New York University. The Rufus Monroe Paine and Sofie Hougaard Paine Lectureship in Religion began in 1977, established by the will of Catherine Paine Middlebush (1891-1975) as a memorial to her parents.
