<note>Hinduism has yoga as its pathway into deeper experience, or "enlightenment." Buddhism has zen, or Vipassana. Is there a corresponding path within the Christian tradition?

Indeed there is! Christianity has always had its own enlightened persons, known as "mystics." Unfor-tunately, none of them has left us as clear a pathway into deeper experience as is available within other world religions.

The Way to Contemplation describes exactly such a Christian path. It is a way grounded in the teachings of the Desert Fathers, the sermons of the German Domini-can Meister Eckhart, and the great English mystical primer The Cloud of Unknowing. Furthermore, Father Jäger writes with the authority and insight of one who has taught this way to hundreds of groups in recent years, helping thousands with the questions and diffi-culties that inevitably arise on such a path. Christians interested in deepening their own prayer life will find here an invaluable companion to accompany them on their way.</note>
