<note>FRANK ALLRED was born in the industrial heart-land of South Lancashire in 1923. Brought up in a non-conformist family, he became a Christian at the age of sixteen. After five years wartime service in Europe and the Middle East, he went into the jewellery business, managing branches of a large multiple retail organisation in Hull, Southport, Manchester and Liverpool. At the age of forty-one, after training at Tyndale Hall, Bristol, he was ordained to the ministry of the Church of England and served in parishes of very different social complexion in Lancashire, Merseyside, Essex and Yorkshire. With his wife Sheila, he has now retired. He has three adult children and six grandchildren.

His wide experience, especially in pastoral care and Christian counselling, has led him to the conclusion that a major cause of the insecurity felt by many Christians today is a minimal working knowledge of God's Word. He writes in an engaging way of the need to get back to the Bible and gives down-to-earth guidance to those who claim to believe it, on how to be sure of their faith.</note>
