<note>T his is a guide to growth in marriage for those who have decided to face the hazards, adventures, and rewards of married life. Lucy and William Hulme discuss ways of working through the problems facing married couples: differing backgrounds, changing roles of women and men, adversity and prosperity, de-pendence, and growing older. Showing how inter-dependence and mutuality can be cultivated amidst these difficulties, they highlight the distinctly Chris-tian contribution to marriage-the "Good News of reconciliation" for the healing of hurts. Knowing that God is for the marriage means that "the downs as well as the ups of our marital journey are all within God's redemptive care."

Lucy Hulme is Professor of Language Arts at Min neapolis Community College, and has written numerous articles and conducted seminars on marital and Christian growth and clergy/spouse marital enrich-ment.

William Hulme is Professor of Pastoral Care and Counseling at Luther Northwestern Theological Seminary, and author of many books, including Am I Losing My Faith?</note>
