Thirteen years ago Dr. Cairns's Saints and Society published by Moody Press took its place as one of the earliest evangelical state-ments on a biblical and historical perspective for Christian social involvement.

A review in Grace Journal called it "an excellent, little book. It touches a long-neglected area, and makes a sincere effort to awaken this generation of Christians to their social responsibili-ties. Christianity Today wrote that this book "is bound to re-mind evangelicals of their obligation to relate biblical faith and ethics to the problems of society."
