Moses Stuart (1780-1852) was Professor of Sacred Literature in the Theological Seminary at Andover. A conservative Congregationalist minister who was often in the middle of controversy, Stuart has been called the father of Biblical Science in America. He played a major role in the development of post-revolutionary studies in Biblical languages.
