Here is the first complete book on the sanctuary movement that has challenged the conscience of our nation, involved many people from all walks of life, and finds new adherents every day.

Sanctuary is the fruit of a two-day sanctuary symposium sponsored by the Tucson Ecumenical Council Task Force for Central America, which brought together sanctuary workers, Central American refugees, biblical scholars, historians, philosophers, religious leaders, and trained specialists in the humanities from North and Latin America. The result is the clearest available presentation of how and why the sanctuary movement began; its religious, philosophical, and historical roots; and why it has caught fire across the country.
